Teaching Certifications: India

B.Ed (Bachelor of Education): The foundational teaching qualification in India. B.Ed is a two-year program that covers pedagogy, educational psychology, curriculum development, and supervised classroom teaching practice. You need a bachelor's degree with at least 50% aggregate marks to enroll. The four-year Integrated B.Ed program combines a bachelor's degree with B.Ed, saving a year. B.Ed is mandatory for teaching in most government and recognized private schools.

D.El.Ed (Diploma in Elementary Education): A two-year diploma specifically for teaching at the primary level (classes 1-5). This is an alternative to B.Ed for primary school teaching and is accepted for CTET Paper 1 eligibility. D.El.Ed is offered at District Institutes of Education and Training (DIETs) and equivalent institutions.

CTET (Central Teacher Eligibility Test): A national eligibility test conducted by CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education).
